We’re committed to empowering Australians to be suicide-safe through connection, compassion and hope. Our vision is for an Australia free of suicide. Lifeline was established in Port Pirie in 1977. In 1983 Lifeline Whyalla opened, closely followed by our Lifeline Port Augusta branch opening in 1985; collectively known as Lifeline Upper Spencer Gulf. In 2008 the organisation became known as Lifeline Country to Coast – which more clearly defines our service area. Lifeline Country to Coast SA is one of 42 independent accredited Lifeline centres across Australia. We are a non-profit organisation and attract broad based community support for a range of services. With a volunteer base of over 200 people we operate 11 Lifeline Retail outlets and bookshops across our service area. Our Lifeline Retail outlets provide good quality pre-loved clothing, books and household items; the income generated from Lifeline Retail support the provision of community suicide awareness education across our service area. Nixon’s Function Centre is open for all greyhound race meetings, which are normally held every Tuesday afternoon and Sunday in the early evening. The current race schedule is available at gawlergreyhounds.com The restaurant has a spectacular view overlooking the Gawler Greyhound Race Track. You will enjoy dining on the delicious cuisine from our extensive a la carte menu and our tempting specials, whilst watching the magnificent greyhounds racing. Dining during race days is a unique experience, which will be enjoyed by all. There are full bar facilities where you can enjoy moderately priced drinks, and If you fancy a wager, a complete TAB service is available. There is no entrance fee to enjoy greyhound racing at its best, and you don’t need to be a member of the Club to enjoy the excellent facilities. If you have never been to the greyhounds before, you will be most welcome. If you are looking for a great place to enjoy a quality meal in Gawler, then look no further than Nixons Function Centre.
