Our pot area has just taken delivery of new pots in great shapes and fabulous colours fresh from the orient. We also sell Bennett’s pots that are handmade right here in SA. At Gawler Environment Centre (GEC) we work with our local community to encourage action on environmental protection, sustainable land management and sustainable living. Our focus is knowledge sharing and taking action together, and we present a wide variety of workshops, projects and events every year. We are a community run incorporated not for profit organisation. We run monthly workshops and webinars that encompass everything from native plant propagation and weed management, to eco arts and crafts and low waste living. Every second month we run Gawler Repair Cafe, where community members can have household items repaired free of charge and help to divert waste from landfill. We partner with Gawler Environment and Heritage Association to run the annual Understorey native plant sale, and support local community groups with their revegetation and restoration projects. We initiated the innovative Eco Coffin Project, which explores natural burial options, and we are currently assisting the Gawler Community Garden group to establish our regions first community garden.

The AWL relies heavily on the support of the community for the funding necessary to carry out our important role. One way this is achieved is through our Retail Thrift Stores. Your support with donations of good quality items for re-sale through these outlets is very much appreciated. If you are near one of our shops, please call in and browse; they are full of great bargains – books, bric-a-brac, household goods, clothing, accessories and toys. Our shops are staffed by volunteers – all money raised at these stores goes back into the care of lost and surrendered animals.

The Terrace Function Centre is a purpose built modern event space set amongst gorgeous rose gardens and stunning views. Making the most of its custom made floor to ceiling glass frontage, the Terrace Function Centre opens up to views of the racecourse and the foothills of Gawler – the perfect backdrop for any occasion. With no minimum spends or numbers and our room hire fees include all the basics you would need we can cater for almost any budget. Our dedicated Function Coordinators will work with you to ensure that your specific and individual requirements are looked after and your event runs smoothly. The Terrace Function Centre has the potential to cater anywhere from 20 to 250 guests for a sit-down function and up to 1500 for a cocktail function. Our packages are flexible and we will do everything we possibly can to accommodate your requirements for your occasion.
