At Gawler Environment Centre (GEC) we work with our local community to encourage action on environmental protection, sustainable land management and sustainable living. Our focus is knowledge sharing and taking action together, and we present a wide variety of workshops, projects and events every year. We are a community run incorporated not for profit organisation.

We run monthly workshops and webinars that encompass everything from native plant propagation and weed management, to eco arts and crafts and low waste living. Every second month we run Gawler Repair Cafe, where community members can have household items repaired free of charge and help to divert waste from landfill. We partner with Gawler Environment and Heritage Association to run the annual Understorey native plant sale, and support local community groups with their revegetation and restoration projects. We initiated the innovative Eco Coffin Project, which explores natural burial options, and we are currently assisting the Gawler Community Garden group to establish our regions first community garden.
