The Steinborner business at Gawler was formed and opened on January 3rd 1984. It was originally a partnership between Michael Steinborner and Malcolm Hage [the owner of the Holden dealership at Tanunda]. Michael Steinborner was given a 10-year buy-out agreement instigated by GMH and in June 1994 purchased the remaining share of the business at which time the name was changed from Steinhage to Steinborner Holden. At the beginning in 1984 a staff of 6 was employed that has grown to the present day number of over 90. It is a major contributor to Holden and the Gawler community consistently selling over 50 new Holden products each month. It is also Holden’s No 1 buyer of executive and fleet return vehicles. Steinborner Holden is currently South Australia’s most awarded dealer receiving Holden’s Chairman’s award – 2 years in a row, The Holden Grand Masters award – 2 years in a row plus Best Small Business award for 2005.
