While there we had a some coffee, as you would in a cafe.

Steve who is a serious connoisseur of coffee was amazed at how good the coffee was!

My son took me to the Java Hut Cafe for a Mother’s Day breakfast.

I had the Eggs Benedict with a pancake on the side and he had the Big Breakfast, both of which were fabulous.

What a great way to start the morning, followed by a stroll through the local markets at the Gawler Railway Station and Gawler Park.

You should try spending Sunday morning in Gawler!

As Mother’s Day is fast approaching, to help inspire you we asked an additional three Mums from Gawler what their best Mother’s Day experience has been to date, what they want this Mother’s Day and their favourite places to shop in Gawler.

Rachel from Willaston’s best Mother’s Day experience was the first Mother’s day her children were old enough to make her a homemade card and breakfast in bed. She thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with her family and the breakfast was delicious too! For Mother’s Day this year Rachel would like her children to clean their rooms without being asked, and maybe some perfume for herself as well. Rachel’s favourite shop in Gawler is Cups ‘n Cakes as they have great coffee and a convenient location for catch ups with the girls.

The best Mother’s Day Michelle from Evanston Park has ever experienced was when her son surprised her by coming home early from an overseas holiday. They then spent the day as a family having a picnic in Pioneer Park. This year Michelle would like a voucher to spend in her favourite place to shop in Gawler – Ministry of Hair. Michelle said that she loves to be pampered and thoroughly enjoys getting her hair done, “especially the head massage!” Luckily for Michelle’s children Ministry of Hair have a couple of special deals on the Gawler website for Mother’s Day!

Louise from Gawler East told us that her most memorable Mother’s Day was when her children made a poster with 100 reasons why they love their mum. “It made me teary to know that they appreciate everything I do for them and to see the amount of effort they had put into such a beautiful gift. I still have it and bring it out every now and then to remind myself that the little terrors do have a soft side!” For Mother’s day this year Louise would like a scented candle and a bunch of flowers picked from their garden. Louise’s favourite place to shop is the Home Maker Centre – where she can purchase everything for her house in one place!

Tell us your story by getting in contact with us or send your loved one an anonymous Hintogram this Mother’s Day, to ensure you get what you deserve! We look forward to seeing you shopping in one of Gawler’s shopping precincts soon.

We all know our Mums aren’t telling the truth when she tells us that all she wants for Mother’s Day is a “hug and a kiss”. She wants to be pampered and showered with love and let’s face it – she deserves it! Working hard around the clock to be there for us and to provide us with everything that she possibly can, it’s time we repay our Mums for all of their hard work, love and dedication. Here are some Mother’s Day ideas to get your brain ticking over on how to spoil your Mum on her special day…

1. Organise a picnic in Pioneer Park with your family and your Mum’s favourite foods. Bring along some games to play and make an afternoon of it!

2. Find your Mum’s favourite recipes and have a bake off. Your Mum will appreciate spending time with you and will love that you listen to her when she tells you what her favourite treats are!

3. Create your Mum a playlist for her iPod. Include the songs that make her feel good and that she can sing around the house to – make sure to include some of your favourite songs too – you never know she might add them to her favourite list too!

4. Take Mum to a movie she has been dying to see at the Gawler Cinemas or hire a bunch of movies from your local video store and have a movie marathon at home. Just make sure you choose movies that your Mum would want to watch!

5. Take Mum to her “dream destination” by organising a themed lunch. If Paris is your Mums dream location, purchase some croissants, quiches and French bread from Gawler South Bakery, Bakers Delight or Gawler Hot Bread Bakery and stop off on the way home to pick up some fruit and cheese. Go all out and set the dining room table with a table cloth and the lot – you could also learn a few key phrases in French to give the lunch an extra authentic feel!

6. Create a bunch of coupons that Mum can redeem whenever she feels like it. For example, ‘this voucher entitles you to a sleep in on any day of your choice’ or ‘this voucher entitles you to no sibling squabble for 2 hours’ or even ‘this voucher entitles you to 3 hours of our time to help with the house work/gardening’. Mum is sure to appreciate the thought that went into making them and I’m sure she can’t wait to use them!

7. Give the gift of relaxation and help relieve all of your Mum’s stress. Ask Dad to help you out with this one and get your Mum a voucher for a massage or a manicure from Pure Platinum or Ministry of Hair.

8. Head into the Vadoulis Garden Centre and purchase a pot plant or some seedlings and give your Mum the gift that keeps on growing. You could even spend some time on Mother’s Day helping your Mum out in the garden!

At the end of the day, however you decide to spend Mother’s Day, make sure you spoil her with love and attention and your Mum will not only thank you for it but appreciate you giving up your time to spend with her.

Audrey from Freeling’s best Mother’s Day experience was in Phi Phi Island, Thailand. Mother’s Day in Thailand included shopping and then out for dinner. For Mother’s Day this year Audrey is hoping for a home cooked meal, cooked by a loved one. Audrey’s favourite place to shop in Gawler is Meznars.

Karen from Gawler has experienced Mother’s Day at home with her family and dinner cooked for her, stating that this is her best Mother’s Day experience. This year, Karen is hoping for a blender for Mother’s Day “I’ve had my current blender for over 20 years and used it every day, it has served me well but it’s time for an upgrade” says Karen. “My favourite place to shop in Gawler is Jewellery Journey”.

Margaret from Evanston received a lovely gift from her two daughters for Mother’s Day 60 years ago and the memory still sticks with her now. Her best Mother’s Day experience was when her two daughters bought her, with their own pocket money, a broach and she still wears it now. This Mother’s Day, Margaret hopes to spend some time with her daughters and to have a family get together. Margaret’s favourite place to shop in Gawler is K. Brereton Jewellery and Entice Boutique.

Tell us your story by getting in contact with us or send your loved one an anonymous Hintogram this Mother’s Day, to ensure you get what you deserve!

We look forward to seeing you shopping in one of Gawler’s shopping precincts soon.

The photo shoot for promoting Gawler as a shoppers’ paradise, has been shot and edited, ready for use. We had a great day with two models and two children posing as a ‘family’ for us.

Behind the scenes, however, there were three local businesses that made the process not only possible but successful.

A photo shoot about shopping in Gawler would not be genuine if the clothes worn by the models were ‘imported’ from other shopping precincts.

Hence, the adult models borrowed clothes for the day from the very generous, Entice Boutique and Mensland.

Business Liaison Officer for the Group, Sigrid Murljacic says “Entice Boutique and Mensland were a great help on the day and they were an obvious choice for us”

“The models loved wearing the locally supplied outfits and look forward to visiting the stores again when they next visit Gawler”.

The third business that assisted us was the Kingsford Hotel who supplied a freshly cooked, local pub meal for us to use as props for the dinner scenes.

For more information or to take part in our next photo shoot, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We would like to thank these three businesses as well as the other businesses that accommodated us in their premises on the day.
